As a fully integrated manufacturing operation, Polytex provides engineers with the opportunity to work directly with production equipment and processes across the entire packaging value chain. Engineers are involved not only in design, but also in fabrication, installation, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of equipment used throughout our facilities. Position summary Polytex Fibers is seeking an Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering team and support the design, development, modification, and improvement of manufacturing and packaging equipment. This is a hands-on engineering position ideal for a recent graduate or early-career engineer who wants exposure to both mechanical design and real-world manufacturing. The Mechanical Engineer will work closely with Engineering, Production, Maintenance, Quality, and other departments to develop practical solutions that improve equipment performance, reliability, safety, and production efficiency. The ideal candidate is a motivated, hands-on problem solver who is comfortable working both at a computer developing designs and on the production floor implementing, testing, and improving those designs. Key responsibilities Mechanical Design & Equipment Development Design new mechanical components, tooling, fixtures, assemblies, and equipment using CAD software. Develop 3D models, engineering drawings, assemblies, and manufacturing documentation. Support the development of new machinery and modifications to existing production equipment. Assist with prototyping, fabrication, assembly, installation, testing, and validation of mechanical designs. Reverse engineer existing components and equipment when drawings or technical documentation are unavailable. Equipment & Process Improvement Identify opportunities to improve existing manufacturing equipment and processes. Develop mechanical solutions that improve productivity, equipment reliability, product quality, ergonomics, and safety. Support equipment upgrades, retrofits, automation projects, and continuous improvement initiatives. Troubleshoot mechanical issues and assist Production and Maintenance teams with identifying practical engineering solutions. Project Execution Support engineering projects from initial concept through design, fabrication, installation, testing, and final implementation. Coordinate with internal fabrication resources, maintenance personnel, vendors, and equipment suppliers as needed. Assist with equipment layouts, measurements, specifications, material selection, and component selection. Maintain engineering drawings, project documentation, and technical records. Cross?



Functional Collaboration. Work closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Safety, and other departments to understand operational needs and develop effective engineering solutions. Communicate project requirements, design concepts, technical issues, and project status clearly with team members and stakeholders. Participate in equipment trials, installations, troubleshooting activities, and production-floor evaluations. Required qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering field. 0-1 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience. Experience with 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks. Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar 2D drafting software. Ability to read and create mechanical drawings and basic manufacturing documentation. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Willingness to work in a hands-on manufacturing environment and spend time on the production floor. Ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications & Attributes Exposure to machine design, fabrication, machining, automation, or industrial equipment. Familiarity with common manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, and assembly. Basic understanding of pneumatics, motors, sensors, electronic components and other industrial machine components. Experience with prototyping, reverse engineering, or hands-on mechanical projects. Self-motivated and willing to take ownership of engineering assignments. Comfortable learning new equipment, manufacturing processes, and technologies. Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
