  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
  • Mechanical engineering experience in power generation, utilities, oil and gas, petrochemical, manufacturing, or another heavy industrial environment
  • Experience troubleshooting rotating or mechanical equipment
  • Knowledge of gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, pumps, compressors, valves, piping, heat exchangers, or related Balance of Plant systems
  • Experience supporting equipment outages, maintenance activities, commissioning, or startup
  • Ability to evaluate equipment failures and develop technically sound corrective actions
  • Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, or comparable failure-investigation experience
  • Ability to review drawings, specifications, calculations, vendor documentation, and technical procedures
  • Experience developing scopes of work and supporting engineering projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate with operations, maintenance, engineering, contractors, vendors, and OEM representatives
Pay Range:

$45-$70/HR Skills and Requirements

  • Gas-fired or combined-cycle power-generation experience
  • Gas turbine or steam turbine mechanical experience
  • Fleet engineering or multi-site generation support
  • Outage leadership or major-maintenance planning experience
  • Reliability engineering, predictive maintenance, or condition-monitoring experience
  • Experience with borescope inspections, vibration analysis, lubrication systems, or performance degradation
  • Knowledge of ASME, API, ANSI, NFPA, or other applicable engineering standards
  • Experience with equipment modifications, repair strategies, and lifecycle planning
  • Familiarity with PI Vision, TrendMiner, Excel, JMP, Power BI, or comparable analytical tools
  • OEM coordination experience with GE Vernova, Siemens Energy, Mitsubishi Power, or comparable manufacturers
  • Professional Engineer license or Engineer in Training certification
  • Technical leadership or mentoring experience
  • Provide mechanical engineering support to power-generation stations and fleet operations
  • Troubleshoot mechanical equipment failures, abnormal operating conditions, and performance issues
  • Evaluate gas turbines, steam turbines, pumps, compressors, valves, piping, heat exchangers, and auxiliary systems
  • Review inspection results, work histories, operating trends, and failure data
  • Lead or support RCAs, FMEAs, and equipment reliability investigations
  • Develop repair recommendations, corrective actions, and long-term reliability strategies
  • Plan and support mechanical scopes during scheduled and forced outages
  • Coordinate with station personnel, contractors, vendors, and OEM engineers
  • Review engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, procedures, and vendor proposals
  • Develop technical scopes of work for repairs, replacements, modifications, and capital projects
  • Support commissioning, startup testing, functional testing, and post-maintenance validation
  • Monitor recurring equipment issues and identify opportunities to reduce forced outages and maintenance costs
  • Prepare technical reports, recommendations, and presentations for engineering and operations stakeholders
  • Mentor less-experienced engineers and provide technical leadership when appropriate

Insight Global is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a top utility and power-generation client. This individual will provide engineering support for gas turbine facilities and associated mechanical and Balance of Plant equipment. The engineer will troubleshoot equipment issues, support planned and forced outages, perform failure investigations, develop technical scopes of work, and coordinate repairs and improvement projects with operations, maintenance, contractors, vendors, and OEM partners. The role will help improve equipment reliability, reduce operational risk, and develop lifecycle strategies for critical generation assets.
