Energenecs

Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

Mechanical Engineer Company Overview Energenecs is a well-established leader in providing cutting-edge process equipment solutions for the water treatment industry. With a strong reputation for excellence, innovation, and a collaborative work culture, we take pride in delivering top-quality systems and services to our clients. Our team is dedicated to enhancing water treatment processes, ensuring sustainability, and improving environmental outcomes. Position Summary Energenecs is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to join our team and support product development, fabrication, and project execution across our Controls, Process Equipment, and Groth Biogas divisions. This role is central to how we design, build, and deliver engineered systems to the water/wastewater and biogas markets. The ideal candidate combines strong CAD proficiency with practical shop and vendor coordination experience, a bias toward building things that are manufacturable, and the organizational discipline to manage projects from bid through commissioning. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following is intended as a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed. CAD & Design Drafting Develop and maintain detailed 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings using Alibre Design and related CAD tools. Produce accurate, build-ready drawing packages including assemblies, BOMs, weld details, and dimensional tolerances. Own drawing revision management and ensure documentation stays current through the full product lifecycle. Support product standardization efforts by building reusable model libraries and parametric configurations. Vendor Coordination & Design for Manufacturability Collaborate directly with outside machine shops, fabricators, and specialty vendors to optimize designs for efficient production. Review quotes and provide redlines or design alternatives that improve cost, lead time, or quality without compromising function. Maintain working relationships with key vendors and serve as the technical point of contact for fabrication questions. Evaluate new vendors and manufacturing methods to expand Energenecs' supply base and cost competitiveness. Technical Documentation Author and maintain product data sheets, build specifications, assembly instructions, and operations & maintenance (O&M) manuals. Improve the clarity, accuracy, and consistency of existing documentation across all product lines. Develop and enforce documentation standards to support scalable growth and reduced reliance on tribal knowledge. Support regulatory submittals and client deliverable packages with accurate, professional technical documents. Fabrication Support Work alongside the fabrication team to troubleshoot build issues, interpret drawings, and refine designs based on shop feedback. Participate in shop floor reviews to identify recurring issues and drive design or process improvements. Assist with material selection, sourcing, and quality inspection of incoming fabricated components. Project Management — Groth Biogas Lead project execution for larger bid biogas projects from award through final commissioning, with engineering team support. Coordinate internal resources, vendors, and subcontractors to meet schedule, budget, and quality commitments. Maintain project documentation including submittal logs, RFIs, change orders, and closeout packages. Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers and EPC partners on assigned projects. Communicate project status, risks, and financial performance to management on a regular basis. Qualifications and Requirements Required Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and 2D drafting; Alibre Design experience strongly preferred. Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, professional technical documents. Organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple active projects simultaneously. Preferred Experience in water/wastewater treatment, biogas, or industrial process equipment industries. Familiarity with ASME, AWS, or other applicable fabrication and pressure vessel standards. Exposure to project management tools and disciplines (scheduling, budget tracking, change management). Experience reading P&IDs, electrical schematics, or control system documentation. Background working in or alongside a fabrication shop environment. Demonstrated experience working with fabrication vendors — machine shops, sheet metal, welding.
