MECHANICAL DESIGNER LOCATION

Irvine, CA | Full-Time | Hybrid (Up to 2 Remote Days/Week)

ABOUT THE ROLE

Linwood Engineering, Inc. (LEi) is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join our growing MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) team in Irvine, CA. This is a hands-on design role that offers exposure to diverse project types, collaboration with experienced engineers, and a clear path toward leadership opportunities. We're looking for a technically skilled, detail-oriented individual who enjoys problem-solving and contributing to high-performance building design.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Conduct field surveys and document existing mechanical systems. Design HVAC systems, including calculations, equipment sizing, layouts, and specifications. Prepare coordinated construction drawings, schedules, details, and specifications. Apply applicable mechanical codes, energy standards, and CAD/BIM standards. Coordinate with project leads and other disciplines to support project delivery. Provide construction administration support, including RFIs, submittals, and punch walks.

QUALIFICATIONS

(REQUIRED) 1-3 years of mechanical design experience in an MEP consulting environment. Proven experience with mechanical system design for commercial, multifamily, restaurant, retail, hospitality, office, healthcare (HCAi), or higher education projects. Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD (minimum 1 years of professional experience in each). Working knowledge of California Building and mechanical codes. Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft 365 (Teams, Excel, Word, OneNote). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong time management and organizational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Engineer-in-Training (EIT) credential. Knowledge of HVAC systems and Title 24 energy compliance. Experience with project management or client coordination.
