Job Description

Overview We are seeking a Mechanical Designer / Drafter to join our engineering team and support the design and manufacturing of custom equipment and mechanical systems. In this role, you will create detailed production and assembly drawings using SolidWorks , develop and maintain engineering documentation, and collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams to ensure designs are accurately translated into production-ready solutions. This position offers the opportunity to contribute throughout the product lifecycle, from concept refinement and 3D modeling to manufacturing support and design change implementation. Key Responsibilities Create detailed production, fabrication, and assembly drawings using SolidWorks. Translate engineering concepts and 3D models into accurate, manufacturable documentation. Perform 3D modeling and design updates as needed. Create, update, and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) within the ERP system. Manage CAD files, revisions, and engineering documentation using SolidWorks PDM/Vault. Process engineering change orders (ECOs) and ensure documentation remains up to date. Collaborate with engineers, manufacturing personnel, and procurement teams to resolve design and documentation issues. Utilize AutoCAD and other CAD software as needed. Support manufacturing by answering technical questions and providing accurate documentation. Visit the production floor to verify designs, review in-process equipment, and resolve shop-floor concerns. Maintain high standards for drafting accuracy, quality, and consistency. Qualifications Designer I Associate degree in Drafting & Design, Mechanical Design, or a related field, or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. Designer II Minimum of 2 years of SolidWorks experience. At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment. Required Skills Proficiency in SolidWorks drafting and 3D modeling. Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and drafting standards. Experience creating production and assembly drawings for manufacturing. Knowledge of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and ERP systems. Experience with SolidWorks PDM/Vault or similar document management systems. Familiarity with engineering change management processes. Working knowledge of AutoCAD. Understanding of manufacturing processes and fabrication methods. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience in industrial equipment, machinery, or manufacturing environments. Experience supporting production teams and troubleshooting design-related issues. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Work Environment This position is primarily office-based within a collaborative engineering environment. The role involves frequent interaction with engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams, along with periodic visits to the production floor to support manufacturing activities and ensure design accuracy. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55000.00 - $70000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
