This is a great opportunity for an early-career mechanical designer who enjoys working with 3D CAD, manufacturing drawings, assemblies, BOMs, and engineering documentation and wants hands-on exposure to the complete design-to-manufacturing process. Position Overview The Junior Mechanical Designer will support the Mechanical Engineering team with CAD design, drafting, engineering documentation, and document control . The role involves creating and maintaining 2D manufacturing drawings and 3D CAD models, supporting existing product lines, maintaining BOMs, and working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning, and Procurement. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working in a manufacturing environment, and interested in developing their mechanical design skills while working with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities Create and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings for mechanical components and products. Perform mechanical design and drafting activities for established product lines and industrial products . Modify existing designs and drawings based on engineering, manufacturing, and production requirements. Develop, update, and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and related engineering documentation. Support component release, drawing revisions, and engineering document control . Maintain accurate revision history and ensure current drawings and design files are properly controlled. Apply basic mechanical design principles, dimensions, tolerances, materials, and manufacturing considerations to drawings and models. Review drawings and CAD models for accuracy, completeness, and manufacturability. Work with Manufacturing and Planning to address drawing, material, assembly, and production-related issues. Coordinate with Procurement regarding parts, materials, components, and engineering changes as needed. Support engineering changes and continuous improvement initiatives for existing products. Assist with maintaining standard product configurations, drawings, and BOMs. Organize and maintain engineering files and documentation according to established procedures. Collaborate with engineers and other team members to meet project schedules and deliver accurate design documentation. Required Qualifications Associate or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, or a related field , or equivalent relevant experience. Entry-level to early-career experience in mechanical design, CAD drafting, product design, or manufacturing . Hands-on experience with 3D CAD software . Ability to create and interpret 2D mechanical/manufacturing drawings and 3D CAD models . Basic understanding of mechanical components, assemblies, dimensions, tolerances, materials, and manufacturing processes. Experience working with or creating BOMs and engineering documentation . Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly with drawings, revisions, part numbers, and documentation. Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, manufacturing-oriented environment . Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with SolidWorks is strongly preferred. Experience with other 3D CAD platforms such as Creo, Fusion 360, Onshape, or similar software. Exposure to manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, sheet metal, welding, or assembly. Familiarity with engineering change orders (ECOs), revision control, component release, or document control. Previous internship, co-op, project, or hands-on experience involving mechanical product design or manufacturing. What Makes This Opportunity Interesting Work on real industrial products rather than purely theoretical design projects. Gain hands-on experience taking designs from CAD models and drawings through manufacturing. Work closely with experienced mechanical engineers and manufacturing professionals. Develop practical skills in SolidWorks/CAD, manufacturing drawings, BOMs, revisions, and product documentation. Gain exposure to multiple functions, including Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning, and Procurement. Opportunity to grow within a stable, engineering-focused environment.
