As a Plant Issue Resolution Engineer

• Body & Closure Systems, you will be part of the Vehicle Development department supporting Trim & Lighting, Fleet Support Engineering, and Sustaining Team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of urgency, the ability to lead cross-functional problem solving, and the technical depth to drive root cause analysis and durable corrective actions.

Lead triage, containment, and resolution planning for issues identified during general assembly and end-of-line testing across door systems, latches, actuators, sealing, access panels, glazing, and body structures. Define and execute short-term containment actions, including rework plans, part quarantine, and build flow protection to keep production moving. Collaborate cross-functionally to lead root cause analysis across design, process, supplier, and manufacturing domains, identify blockers, and drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) improvements. Support cross-functional teams in implementing permanent corrective actions (PCA) and preventing recurrence through disciplined follow-through. Support prototype builds, production trials, and engineering changes to validate fixes and improve manufacturability. What's Needed? B.S. or M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field. 6-8 years of experience in automotive OEMs, robotics, aviation, or other complex hardware systems within manufacturing, product engineering, or sustaining environments. Strong understanding of vehicle body & closure systems, including door systems, latches, actuators, sealing, access panels, glazing, and body structures. Proven experience leading root cause analysis and corrective actions in production, manufacturing, or field environments, including new product launch support. Strong cross-functional communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment. What's in it for me? Contribute to stronger PIRT processes by improving issue tracking, prioritization, and cross-functional execution.
