We are looking for a hands-on RMA & Failure Analysis Engineer who enjoys solving challenging technical problems and figuring out why complex systems fail. You will work directly with drones, PCBAs, batteries, cameras/gimbals, radios, motors, sensors, and embedded systems to reproduce failures, identify root cause, repair products, and prevent failures from happening again. This role works closely with Electrical, Mechanical, Software/Firmware, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to turn real-world field failures into product and manufacturing improvements. Responsibilities Own RMAs from initial diagnosis through root cause, repair, testing, and closure. Troubleshoot complete drone systems and subassemblies including PCBAs, batteries, gimbals, radios, motors, sensors, and controllers. Reproduce customer-reported and production failures and determine whether the root cause is hardware, firmware/software, mechanical, manufacturing, or supplier related. Perform hands-on debugging using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads, and other lab equipment. Perform soldering, PCBA rework, component replacement, and electromechanical repairs. Use programming and scripting to troubleshoot systems, analyze logs, automate testing, and develop diagnostic tools. Perform root-cause analysis (RCA) and clearly document failure mechanisms, findings, and corrective actions. Identify recurring failures and work with Engineering and Quality teams on CAPA and permanent corrective actions. Validate repaired products through functional and system-level testing before release. Feed RMA findings back into product design, manufacturing processes, IQC/OQC, work instructions, and production testing. Track RMA trends and failure data to identify opportunities to improve product reliability. Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Firmware/Embedded Systems Engineering, or a related engineering discipline is required. 2+ years of experience in RMA, failure analysis, test engineering, manufacturing engineering, robotics, or a related engineering role. Strong hands-on electronics and electromechanical troubleshooting skills. Hands-on programming experience with Python, C/C++, or similar languages for debugging, testing, data analysis, and automation. Experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, soldering equipment, and PCBA rework tools. Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills. Ability to work across hardware, firmware/software, and mechanical systems. Experience with drones, robotics, batteries, RF systems, cameras, motors, sensors, or embedded systems is a plus.
