Position Summary Information Job Description Summary The full-time Welding Faculty member teaches a variety of Welding courses. These classes are primarily held on the Niles, MI campus and may be day or evening hours. Required Qualifications Candidates must meet one of the following: Associate degree or higher in Welding, Welding Technology, Manufacturing, Applied Technology, or a closely related field, plus at least two years of relevant industry experience; or A recognized welding, apprenticeship, journey-level, or other relevant industry credential, plus at least three years of relevant industry experience; or At least five years of documented, progressively responsible industry experience in welding, fabrication, or a closely related field. Preferred Qualifications American Welding Society ( AWS ) certification or other relevant industry-recognized welding credentials. Associate degree or higher in Welding, Welding Technology, Manufacturing, Applied Technology, or a closely related field. AWS Certified Welding Inspector ( CWI ), Certified Welding Educator ( CWE ), or comparable advanced industry credentials. Prior teaching, training, apprenticeship instruction, or workplace mentoring experience.

  • Prepares and provides all lecture and laboratory instruction according to the required curriculum
  • Maintains current course outlines, objectives, and evaluation mechanisms for the program
  • Facilitates high quality instruction through the delivery of course content and materials
  • Utilizes active and collaborative learning strategies and a variety of other pedagogies to engage learners
  • Demonstrates safety protocols and assures a safe environment for students, faculty, and staff
  • Demonstrates a deep commitment to every student's success
  • Mentors part time faculty
  • Maintains standing as a subject matter expert by remaining current and connected to the field
  • Serves as a contributing member to the School of Business and Advanced Technology
  • Serves on college committees
  • Demonstrates a deep commitment to diversity and treats others fairly, with courtesy, and respect

Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. 3. The visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception, and field vision. The employee is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures. 4. The conditions the employee will be subject to in this position. A. The employee is subject to environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. B. The employee is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside. C. The employee is subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour. D. The employee is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the employee to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level. E. The employee is subject to vibration. Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body. F. The employee is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals. G. The employee is subject to atmospheric conditions. One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation. H.
