JOB SUMMARY
The Inspector Calibrator's primary responsibility is to ensure the accuracy and reliability of measuring instruments and equipment by calibrating, testing, and maintaining them according to established standards. They play a crucial role in quality control, ensuring that equipment functions correctly and measurements are precise Under minimum supervision the Inspector, Calibrator performs all the duties of Inspector A and the inspection of any parts and assemblies, calibration of inspection measuring gauges and inspection equipment. Uses all types of precision instruments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Applies knowledge of all manufacturing and sub-assembly operations. Applies understanding of all tools, jigs, and fixtures. Writes inspection reports and maintains accurate records. Coordinates work and sets up inspection gages for other inspectors. May assist in the training of other inspectors. Follows written calibration procedures and creates calibration reports. May be required to set up and maintain statistical quality control charts and procedures as directed by Quality Assurance. Monitors gage requests/requirements at suppliers Demonstrates advanced mechanical aptitude. Standard arithmetic skills are required and experience with the use of standard shop math, basic trigonometry, and a full knowledge of machine shop and assembly operations is preferred. Moves gages and metrology materials to and from work area. May be required to perform other duties as directed by supervision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma and related work experience in mechanical inspections and calibrations. Requires 3-5+ years experience at the Inspector A level plus at least 2 years of demonstrated calibration experience and acceptable performance of the required operations. Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
REQUISITE SKILLS REQUIRED
Previous experience in Gage Track/Gage Calibration software is preferred. Must be able to Calibrate Mechanical, Fluid, Pressure and Electrical gages and tooling
EQUIPIMENT/MACHINERY USED
Experience in using basic and advanced calibration tools, inspection tools and gages and other currently used inspection equipment. Computer hardware and software.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Lifting up to 25 lbs. regularly and 50 lbs. occasionally, pushing, pulling, standing for long periods of time, manual dexterity, visual acuity, and typing. Must pass the required eye tests and may be subject to the random drug and alcohol testing program. All candidates must meet the US persons criteria.
