Job Description Position Summary:
Trainee:
Under direct supervision of level two or level three NDT Tech, Trainee NDT Tech performs basic NDT tasks such as staging work, moving product through the NDT process and miscellaneous support tasks. Trainee NDT Tech will demonstrate the ability to interpret work orders and follow work instructions. This is an entry level position requiring no previous experience.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.
Obtain experience under direct observation of a Level 2 or Level 3 in the same method.
Adheres to quality processes to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
Correctly interpret work orders
Perform basic NDT support tasks (staging work, etc.) See

Work in a team environment, i.e. follow instructions and assist others as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Required Skills:
Basic English language skills and the ability to read, follow, and interpret planning and work order instructions
The ability to perform basic shop math, fractions, decimals
The ability to use basic inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, etc.
The ability to read and interpret work instructions and basic prints and dimensions
Meet minimal requirement on Wyman Gordon internal assessments Experience & Education Minimal 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment; prior military experience; or technical certification / degree
GED or High School diploma
Successfully pass Vision, Written and Practical examinations for Level 1 or 2 in at least one method within a 12-month period.
Working Conditions:
Constant exposure to indoor manufacturing environment
Constant exposure to moderate noise
Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes, odors, hot / cold temperatures, inside / outside noise vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and wet or uneven surfaces.
Must be able to work any shift including overtime, weekends and holidays if scheduled.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to thirty-five (35) pounds on a repetitive basis.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist and work at heights on an intermittent basis for up to twelve (12) hours.
- Requires hand manipulation including simple grasping, pushing and pulling of materials.
- Must be able to safety operate an overhead crane.
- Must be able to reach and work above and below the shoulder level.
- Must be able to work with and around forklifts and hazardous machinery.
- Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.
Visual acuity skill to detect any flaws in the parts being inspected.
