HIRING FOR A FABRICATION INSPECTOR FOR DAY SHIFT
Schedule:
Monday-Thursday, 6:00 AM-4:30
PM Overtime:
Fridays as required
Pay:
$24-$28/hour, depending on experience Signal Metal Industries is a well-established steel fabrication and machining company with over 50 years of experience. We manufacture large steel products for heavy industries throughout the country, including custom job shop and production work. We are looking for an experienced Fabrication Inspector to join our growing team. This position is responsible for inspecting fabricated steel components and welds to ensure they meet drawings, specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements. Key Responsibilities Perform visual and dimensional inspections of fabricated steel components Inspect welds for compliance with AWS D1.1, ASME, drawings, specifications, and quality requirements Review fabrication drawings, welding symbols, specifications, and work orders Verify dimensions, tolerances, weld sizes, and other requirements using appropriate inspection tools Perform or coordinate applicable NDT inspections, including VT, MT, UT, PT, and RT Identify and document nonconforming conditions and communicate findings to the Quality Supervisor Complete inspection reports, quality documentation, and required records accurately and timely Work with Project Managers, supervisors, fabrication personnel, clients, and other inspectors to resolve quality issues Support quality audits and ensure required inspection procedures are followed Verify that welding and fabrication activities meet applicable specifications and requirements Follow company safety policies and promote safe work practices Key Qualifications 3-5 years of fabrication inspection experience 5-10 years of welding experience Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1 and ASME requirements Knowledge of welding symbols and fabrication drawings Ability to interpret sectional views, dimensions, tolerances, and datum points Working knowledge of NDT methods and their applications, including VT, MT, UT, PT, and RT Experience with quality procedures, inspection documentation, and quality audits Ability to use inspection tools and equipment to verify dimensional requirements Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality issues Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with all levels of personnel Proficient with email and computer-based documentation Reliable attendance and punctuality Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, crouch, kneel, and work in various positions for extended periods Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds Ability to regularly move throughout the fabrication shop, including climbing ladders and accessing elevated or hard-to-reach areas Ability to safely handle inspection equipment and materials Benefits We recognize people as our most valuable asset.
