Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Transmission Line Support Crew Foreman to lead a field crew supporting the construction, maintenance, and repair of high-voltage transmission lines and rights-of-way. This is a working foreman position responsible for planning and directing daily support operations, supervising crew members, operating and coordinating heavy equipment, and working directly with transmission line crews and utility personnel. The support crew performs critical work necessary to keep transmission line operations moving safely and efficiently, including installing and removing access mats, driving anchors, preparing structure and equipment access, mowing and maintaining transmission rights-of-way, mobilizing equipment and materials, and providing ground support to transmission line crews. Previous transmission line experience is required. The successful candidate should understand transmission-line construction and maintenance practices, hazards associated with energized facilities, utility job-site expectations, and the coordination required between line crews and ground-support personnel. This position requires a safety-focused, hands-on leader who can organize people and equipment, anticipate the needs of the line crew, and safely complete assigned work with minimal supervision. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Lead and supervise a transmission support crew during daily field operations Plan daily work activities, manpower, equipment, and material needs in coordination with transmission line crews and supervision Conduct and participate in daily job briefings, tailboards, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and other required safety meetings Maintain a thorough understanding of the day's transmission work and communicate hazards, work limits, equipment locations, and assignments to support crew members Coordinate the installation, relocation, and removal of timber or composite access mats for transmission equipment and line crews Supervise and perform anchor installation and other ground-support work associated with transmission structures Coordinate site preparation and access for bucket trucks, digger derricks, cranes, tracked equipment, material trucks, and other transmission-line equipment Supervise mowing, vegetation clearing, and right-of-way maintenance activities Operate and supervise the operation of excavators, skid steers, tractors, loaders, trucks, trailers, and other heavy equipment Ensure equipment is safely positioned and operated around transmission structures, conductors, guy wires, overhead lines, underground facilities, and other job-site hazards Maintain proper minimum approach distances and follow utility/customer requirements when working around energized facilities Coordinate crew and equipment mobilization between transmission structures and job sites Assist line crews with material handling, equipment setup, structure access, site preparation, and other ground-support activities as required Inspect vehicles, equipment, tools, rigging, and work areas and ensure deficiencies are corrected or reported before use Ensure company and customer equipment, tools, and materials are properly used, maintained, secured, and accounted for Monitor crew productivity and work quality and ensure assigned work is completed safely and according to schedule Train and mentor crew members in safe work practices, equipment operation, transmission job-site expectations, and company procedures Enforce company, customer, OSHA, and applicable utility safety rules and work practices Stop work when unsafe conditions exist and take appropriate action to correct hazards Complete required daily documentation, equipment inspections, timesheets, JHAs, incident reports, and other field paperwork Communicate professionally with transmission linemen, foremen, general foremen, supervisors, utility representatives, property owners, and other contractors Support emergency restoration and storm-response operations when required Minimum Qualifications Previous transmission line construction or maintenance experience required Demonstrated knowledge of working safely around high-voltage transmission lines and energized utility facilities Previous foreman, crew-lead, or supervisory experience strongly preferred Experience working directly with transmission linemen and transmission construction or maintenance crews Strong working knowledge of transmission job-site safety practices, line-clearance requirements, grounding/work-zone concepts, and heavy-equipment hazards Demonstrated experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, skid steers, tractors, loaders, trucks, and trailers Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A) required Acceptable driving record Ability to safely tow and transport equipment and materials Ability to read and understand work plans, maps, construction drawings, structure locations, and utility work instructions Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Ability to assign work, manage multiple crew activities, and adjust to changing field conditions Ability to recognize unsafe conditions and take immediate corrective action Ability to work independently with limited supervision Preferred Experience Preference may be given to candidates with: Prior experience as a transmission lineman, apprentice lineman, groundman, equipment operator, or transmission construction crew member Five or more years of electric utility or transmission construction/maintenance experience Previous experience supervising crews on electric utility projects Experience installing transmission anchors and working around guyed structures Experience installing and removing access mats Experience with transmission right-of-way clearing and maintenance Experience supporting utility storm restoration operations First Aid/CPR certification OSHA or utility-specific electrical transmission and distribution safety training Experience working under utility contractor safety programs and customer-specific work rules Work Environment & Physical Requirements This is a field position performed primarily outdoors in transmission rights-of-way and utility construction environments.

Candidates must be able to:

Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, mud, dust, and other changing weather and field conditions Walk and work on uneven, steep, muddy, wooded, or unimproved terrain Work around heavy equipment and energized electrical facilities Lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment as required Enter and exit trucks and heavy equipment repeatedly throughout the workday Work extended hours, overtime, nights, or weekends when project or utility needs require Travel to transmission job sites as required Respond to storm and emergency restoration work when needed What We Are Looking For We are looking for more than an equipment operator or general construction foreman. The successful candidate should have real-world transmission line experience and understand how a transmission line crew works. The right person will be able to arrive on a transmission job site, understand the work being performed, recognize the hazards associated with energized transmission facilities, coordinate directly with the line foreman, position the support crew and equipment where needed, and keep the support operation moving safely and efficiently. This position is ideal for an experienced transmission-line professional who has strong leadership and equipment skills and is ready to take responsibility for a dedicated transmission support crew.

Pay:

$26.11 - $65.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
