Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) Engineer to join our innovative energy and utility systems team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced SCADA systems that monitor and control high-voltage electrical networks, power distribution infrastructure, and energy sector projects. Your expertise will ensure reliable system operation, compliance with industry standards, and seamless integration of control systems across various utility environments. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical infrastructure projects while advancing your engineering career in a fast-paced, technology-driven setting. Duties Develop detailed system design schematics using CAD software such as AutoCAD and MicroStation, ensuring adherence to electrical building codes and NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) standards Implement and troubleshoot SCADA systems for high-voltage electrical systems, power distribution networks, and energy sector applications Collaborate with project teams to create project schedules, manage timelines, and ensure timely delivery of system engineering solutions Conduct power system analysis, protection coordination, and system modeling utilizing MATLAB and other simulation tools to optimize system performance Ensure compliance with IEEE standards for power systems and the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) during design, installation, and maintenance processes Perform engineering troubleshooting on complex AC/DC electrical systems, high-voltage equipment, and power electronics circuits Support construction activities by reviewing schematics, overseeing system integration efforts, and verifying installation quality in accordance with engineering specifications Contribute to project management tasks including documentation, progress reporting, and coordination with stakeholders to meet project milestones Experience Proven experience in electrical engineering within the utility or energy sector with a focus on power system design or control systems engineering Hands-on experience with SCADA system architecture development, implementation, and maintenance in public utility environments Strong knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems, power electronics circuit design, and power system protection strategies Familiarity with CAD software such as AutoCAD and MicroStation for creating detailed schematics and system layouts Demonstrated ability to apply IEEE standards and NEC (National Electrical Code) requirements in practical engineering scenarios Experience working on projects involving GIS mapping tools or construction activities related to utility electrical systems is preferred Excellent skills in engineering troubleshooting across complex electrical systems combined with strong project scheduling capabilities Mechanical knowledge related to electrical infrastructure is advantageous for integrated system design efforts
JEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
 Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field is required or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Three or more years of experience configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting SCADA or equivalent distributed control systems (DCS) is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
 Strong computer and networking skills.  Demonstrated proficiency with Windows operating systems, LINUX, Microsoft Office, virtualization, access control/authorization, security event monitoring and configuration management software.  Demonstrated proficiency with administrating, programming and troubleshooting real-time SCADA systems and displays.  Demonstrated knowledge of Power System Operations concepts, processes and procedures.  Basic understanding of
NERC CIP
standards.  Effective written and verbal communication skills.  Ability to work with people having varied technical skill levels.  Ability to manage projects and time effectively to meet strict deadlines.  Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, with little to no supervision.
Pay:
$55.00 - $57.00 per hour Expected hours: 8.0 per week
