We design and manufacture commercial seating products and are part of Flokk, an international, multi-brand furniture company. This is a broad, hands-on engineering role with significant ownership. You will lead the technical development of new products from concept through production—working closely with industrial design, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, suppliers, and engineering teams around the world. You'll translate design intent into robust, manufacturable products; develop and evaluate prototypes; solve technical and manufacturing challenges; support tooling and suppliers; validate designs; and ultimately see the products you engineer reach production. As part of Flokk, a large, growing, multi-brand furniture company, you'll also represent 9to5 Seating within a global engineering organization and have the opportunity to influence how the brand approaches product development. What You'll Do Own engineering execution for new product development programs from concept through production launch. Partner with industrial design to turn concepts into robust, manufacturable, and cost-effective products. Develop components, assemblies, mechanisms, and engineering solutions using 3D parametric CAD. Lead prototyping, testing, validation, technical problem-solving, tooling development, and production release. Create and approve CAD models, drawings, specifications, BOMs, test plans, and other engineering documentation. Lead design reviews, prototype evaluations, root-cause investigations, and corrective actions. Work directly with domestic and international suppliers on tooling, components, manufacturing, quality, cost, and schedule. Engineer across processes that may include injection molding, metal fabrication and welding, die casting, wood forming, finishing, upholstery, and assembly. Help shape engineering standards, methods, documentation, and development processes for 9to5 Seating. Collaborate with Flokk engineering and manufacturing teams around the world. What We're Looking For Required Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Demonstrated experience taking engineered physical products from concept through production launch, or comparable end-to-end product development experience. Strong mechanical design, problem-solving, and design-for-manufacturing capabilities. Proficiency with 3D parametric CAD. SolidWorks is used in this role , so candidates using another platform must be prepared to become proficient. Ability to independently identify risks, evaluate alternatives, make sound technical decisions, and drive complex problems to resolution. Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. Strongly Preferred 6+ years of progressively responsible product design and development engineering experience. SolidWorks experience. Experience developing products across multiple manufacturing processes and working directly with suppliers, tooling vendors, and manufacturing operations. Role Scope You'll initially serve as the lead product development engineering resource dedicated to 9to5 Seating, with ownership of complete physical products from concept through production. You'll work within a broader cross-functional and global engineering organization while influencing engineering standards and processes for the brand. Location & Schedule This is a hybrid position based in Hawthorne, California , with an expectation of working onsite four days per week . The role includes hands-on prototype work and may require domestic and international travel. Regular global collaboration may occasionally require meetings outside normal U.S. business hours.
