Job Description

We are looking for a Jr. New Product Development Engineer for a product development role with a leading portable fuel container manufacturer. The incumbent will report directly to the Manager of Engineering. The Jr. New Product Development Engineer will preferably have familiarity with quality testing procedures and hands-on experience operating and maintaining blow molding machine equipment or experience with process engineering for plastics manufacturing. Good mechanical aptitude and experience in troubleshooting and modifying equipment are desired.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

•Provided leadership to cross-functional teams, engineering, and manufacturing third-party development partners in executing new product introduction projects. Worked within the manufacturing organization to standardize new product introduction procedures throughout all cross-functional areas. Reduced new product introduction time to manufacturing by supervising beta testing. Influenced new infrastructure processes in a start-up environment, including change notices, DFM guidelines, and the New Product Introduction process. Planned, managed, and drove all Customer Service Division (CSD) requirements to support new product introduction to customers. Owner of the New Product Development Stage Gate Process

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

•A bachelor's degree in engineering is required. 1-3 years of experience as a Product Development, Process, or Manufacturing Engineer in plastics manufacturing; blow molding experience preferred. Familiarity with Kaizen or other continuous improvement methodologies; should have an aptitude for mathematics, physical science, and computer applications. Experience with project planning and execution, including supporting Stage Gate (or similar) new product development processes. Working knowledge of production processes and manufacturing systems, with the ability to support process improvements on the plant floor. Exposure to blow mold tooling purchases, including coordinating specifications, quotes, and timelines with tooling vendors.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

•Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to 12 hours per day Will climb stairs on an occasional basis Will lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction, is required Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards)

Pay:

$60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
