Harris Home Automation is a boutique, high-end, smart home developer focusing on delivering innovative home automation systems tailored to residential spaces (new build and renovation). Job Summary :
We are seeking a Product Development Engineer with a hands-on experience with CAD design to develop customized components utilized in home automation installation. Half of your time will be focused on in-office design work; the other half will involve installation (at client site) of home automation applications. The ideal candidate has a blend of technical expertise with smart home platforms and experience with residential installations. Qualifications listed below, candidates should have a college degree (or similar relevant prior experience) and a strong interest in the growing smart house industry. Salary will be based on education and relevant industry experience. Qualifications:
College graduate with technical or engineering focus or prior work experience in the field. Experience with CAD-to-prototype processes utilizing 3d printing equipment Working knowledge of Fusion360 (or similar platform) for parts development. Familiarity with printed circuit board design and construction. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues effectively and efficiently. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work closely with clients and other team members. Problem-solving mindset, with creativity in developing custom smart home solutions.
Responsibilities :
Design parts to simplify and improve home automation installation, focusing on ease of installation and enhancement of automation capabilities. Acts as the link to the software design engineer, using hardware to create a physical product that enhances the client experience. Gaining working knowledge of the installation process to improve understanding for parts development. Collaborate with other technicians (e.g., electricians, contractors) to ensure seamless integration into residential spaces. Troubleshoot and resolve issues in home automation systems, ensuring reliable and seamless operation for the end-user. Provide support to clients for using and managing their new smart home platforms.
Preferred :
Experience with other smart home platforms and ecosystems beyond Home Assistant.
