Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The Product Engineer designs, develops, and improves new or existing products while coordinating prototype production and testing. This role ensures projects align with customer specifications, schedules, and budget limitations while collaborating with internal teams, contractors, and vendors. The Product Engineer plays a key role in optimizing manufacturing processes, developing tooling, and maintaining accurate CAD models.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develop and refine designs for new products and tooling to meet customer requirements and industry standards. Preparing technical drawings, sketches, and procedures essential for product development. Ensure proper CAD data transfer, manage drawing and tooling control systems. Create and maintain part numbers and BOMs for product development. Research and recommend raw materials, components, and innovative manufacturing processes. Assist Process Engineers with production trials to improve manufacturing efficiency. Oversee prototype development to validate product performance. Support production teams by optimizing tooling to enhance efficiency. Interface directly with customer engineers and designers to ensure product designs meet their specifications. Participate in vehicle fit-ups, process reviews, and design evaluations to resolve product or production challenges. Ensure proper documentation, including engineering specifications and design process records.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with QA and TQC teams by providing engineering drawings and specifications. Support manufacturing during new product launches and contribute to operations standards. Assist in CAD transfers and technical coordination with customers and suppliers. Provide technical guidance for prototype builds, testing, and product validation. Work independently or as a functional participant in a development team. Perform other duties as required, including supporting other North American locations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associates degree in Engineering or related field required. Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering required. Strong knowledge of engineering principles, design criteria, GD&T, and basic drafting techniques. Experience with AutoCAD and CATIA (preferred but not required). Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, material selection, and product testing. Hands-on experience in prototype development and manufacturing process optimization. Proficiency with analytical tools and mechanical/technical skills. Strong computer skills, including MS Excel, Word, and Project. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multitask and work effectively within a team environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Work may involve standing, bending, lifting, and cutting for extended periods. Must be able to lift 40 pounds overhead. Employment sponsorship is not offered.

$65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
