Full Job Description Description:
Hotstart designs and manufactures thermal management solutions for industrial equipment markets. We are seeking a Product Development Engineer for our team in Spokane, Washington. This position is responsible for transforming customer and market requirements into robust, manufacturable products through concept development, detailed mechanical design, prototype evaluation, validation testing, and production launch.
Requirements:
Primary Position Responsibilities:
Lead product development and improvement projects from concept through production release Design molded, cast, machined, sheet-metal, welded, sealed, and fluid-handling components and assemblies Release SolidWorks models, drawings, tolerance analyses, BOMs, specifications, and engineering changes Material balancing, DFM/DFA, tooling, cost, reliability, serviceability, and supplier capabilities Perform calculations, design reviews, prototype builds, testing, troubleshooting, and validation Collaborate across teams, suppliers, and customers to improve performance, quality, cost, and manufacturability Integrate mechanical, thermal, fluid, electrical, and control requirements Occasional travel to visit customers, suppliers, field sites, and industry events, both domestic and international
Preferred Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline 8+ years in custom machinery, industrial equipment, or OEM product development preferred Proven ownership of complex mechanical designs from concept through validated production release\ Strong design experience with molded, cast, machined, welded, fabricated, and fluid-handling parts Experience with materials, manufacturing, GD&T, DFM/DFA, tooling, suppliers, and cost optimization Hands-on experience with prototypes, fixtures, testing, troubleshooting, and iterative design Working knowledge of thermal systems, pumps, heat exchangers, controls, circuits, and/or refrigeration Advanced SolidWorks and documentation skills; clearly communicate design intent and results Practical, collaborative problem solver who follows through and shares knowledge Reasonable accommodations provided for disabled individuals to foster success in essential functions.
