Contingent upon contract award Position Summary OSFI Consulting LLC is seeking an experienced RF/WLAN Site Survey Engineer for a short-duration wireless heat-mapping and WLAN engineering project at Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, Florida. The engineer will lead active wireless surveying across six dormitory buildings totaling approximately 309,000 square feet . The assignment requires hands-on AP-on-a-Stick surveying, tri-band Wi-Fi measurements across 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz, spectrum analysis, throughput validation, and development of WLAN engineering recommendations. Responsibilities Lead active AP-on-a-Stick (APoS) surveys across multiple dormitory buildings. Position and test access points at candidate installation locations and mounting heights. Conduct active WLAN measurements across 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz . Collect and analyze RSSI, SNR, CCI/ACI, spectrum-analysis, and uplink/downlink throughput data. Perform Layer 1 spectrum analysis and identify non-802.11 interference and foreign or rogue WLAN activity. Measure RF propagation through concrete block, fire doors, room partitions, furnishings, corridors, and resident rooms. Evaluate AP locations and relocate/retest candidate positions when field measurements warrant adjustment. Support final AP placement, channel, transmit-power, mounting, and cable-path recommendations. Maintain accurate survey records by building, floor, and test location. Coordinate with the WLAN documentation engineer and OSFI project management. Follow Tyndall AFB access, escort, security, and facility procedures. Required Qualifications Hands-on professional Wi-Fi/WLAN site-survey experience. Experience with Ekahau AI Pro/Ekahau Survey, AirMagnet, or comparable WLAN survey software . Experience with Ekahau Sidekick/Sidekick 2 or comparable spectrum-analysis hardware. Experience performing AP-on-a-Stick surveys . Familiarity with 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz wireless environments. Ability to interpret RSSI, SNR, CCI/ACI, spectrum, and throughput measurements. Ability to translate field measurements into WLAN design recommendations. Ability to work onsite at Tyndall AFB. Ability to satisfy Federal installation access requirements.
Compensation:
$38.00/hour W-2 base pay plus applicable SCA Health & Welfare fringe. Approved project travel will be separately covered or reimbursed by OSFI.
Expected hours:
30-40 hours per week. Overtime is not anticipated and requires prior authorization. This position is contingent upon contract award.
