Electrical / Integration Engineer — UAS & Ground Robotics
Job Description
FLYMOTION
is seeking a hands-on Electrical & Integration Engineer to design, prototype, integrate, test, and support electrical systems for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), ground robotics, and related mission-critical technologies. This is not a desk-only engineering position. You'll work directly with hardware—designing electronics, integrating sensors and communications systems, building and modifying prototypes, troubleshooting at the bench, and validating complete systems in real-world environments. We're looking for an engineer who enjoys taking a system from requirements and schematic design through prototype, integration, testing, and deployment. What You'll Do Design and develop electrical systems and custom electronics for UAS, ground robotics, and integrated technology platforms. Create schematics and design 2- and 4-layer PCBs using KiCad, Fusion Electronics, or similar PCB design tools . Select components including microcontrollers, sensors, communication devices, connectors, power regulators, and protection circuitry. Develop and integrate embedded hardware using STM32 or similar ARM-based microcontrollers . Integrate electrical subsystems using interfaces and protocols such as UART, I²C, SPI, CAN, USB, and Ethernet . Design and integrate power distribution, wiring, connectors, harnesses, sensors, radios, telemetry systems, motor controllers, ESCs, and other vehicle electronics. Perform hands-on soldering, rework, assembly, prototyping, and modification of electronic systems. Troubleshoot electrical and system-level issues using oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, power supplies, and other test equipment. Integrate commercial off-the-shelf and custom components into complete UAS and ground robotic platforms. Work closely with mechanical, software, manufacturing, operations, and flight-test teams to bring systems from concept to deployment. Conduct bench, vehicle, and field testing to validate performance, reliability, and safety. Create and maintain schematics, BOMs, wiring diagrams, test procedures, engineering documentation, and configuration records. Support design reviews, root-cause investigations, prototype builds, and transition of successful designs into production. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field. 2+ years of relevant electrical engineering, embedded hardware, robotics, aerospace, or related product-development experience. Hands-on experience designing, prototyping, and troubleshooting electronic systems. Experience with schematic capture and PCB design. Understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers, digital communications, sensors, and power electronics. Ability to read and create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation. Strong soldering, rework, and bench-debugging skills. Comfortable working directly with prototypes, vehicles, test equipment, and field-deployed hardware. Ability to independently troubleshoot complex electrical and integration problems. Strong communication and documentation skills. Highly Valuable Experience You don't need to check every box. Experience in one or more of the following areas will make you especially valuable to our team:
UAS / UAV
platforms, ground robotics, or autonomous systems Defense, public-safety, aerospace, or mission-critical technology RF systems, radios, video links, telemetry, and communications Flight controllers, autopilots, GNSS/GPS, IMUs, and navigation sensors Batteries, BMS, DC power distribution, regulators, and power-system design Brushless motors, motor controllers, and ESCs Ruggedized electronics, environmental considerations, and field-deployed systems EMI/EMC, grounding, shielding, and electrical-noise troubleshooting Wiring harness and connector design Design for manufacturability, assembly, testability, and reliability Embedded firmware development and hardware/firmware debugging Rapid prototyping and low-volume hardware development What Success Looks Like A successful engineer in this role can take ownership of an electrical subsystem from requirement to working hardware. You'll be able to evaluate a technical problem, develop an electrical solution, select components, create or modify the electronics, integrate the system onto a vehicle, troubleshoot unexpected issues, document the design, and ultimately prove that it works through testing. We value engineers who are equally comfortable at the computer, at the electronics bench, and working directly on the vehicle. Why
FLYMOTION
At FLYMOTION, you'll work on technology that leaves the lab. Our teams develop and integrate unmanned systems and advanced technologies for demanding real-world applications. You'll have the opportunity to work across electrical engineering, robotics, communications, UAS, ground vehicles, sensors, and emerging technologies while seeing your work progress from an idea to a functioning system. This role is well suited for an engineer who enjoys building, experimenting, troubleshooting, and solving difficult integration problems rather than working on only one small portion of a product.
