(Lockout/Tagout) knowledge required Candidate should be familiar with GM standards and certification requirements Schedule GM has requested 24-hour support coverage through the end of the year. ON-Site at GM Lake Orion, no additional per diem or mileage. It is down the street from JRA.
Candidates must be flexible for:
Day or night shift Up to 7 days per week Up to 12-hour shifts In this role, you will be responsible for developing, commissioning, optimizing, and supporting robotic automation systems throughout the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
Configure and teach robot Tool Center Points (TCPs), User Frames, payloads, and safety configurations, including DCS (Dual Check Safety). Configure robot I/O and communication networks. Set up, commission, and optimize dispense process equipment for paint shop and general assembly applications, including adhesive, sealer, urethane, and paint systems. Integrate and configure robotic and non-robotic vision systems, including both robot-mounted and floor-mounted solutions. Develop and validate Offline Programming (OLP) solutions for robotic applications. Create and maintain robotic simulations to support internal reviews, customer validations, and process optimization initiatives. Analyze and improve robot cycle times to maximize system efficiency and performance. Validate robot models and ensure accuracy of simulation environments. Lead robotics-related projects from concept through commissioning and production launch. Troubleshoot robotic systems and provide technical leadership during startup and production support activities. Mentor and support junior engineers, technicians, and project team members. Manage robotics-related budgets, schedules, and workload breakdown structures (WBS). What You'll Bring Education Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field preferred. Will take work experience in lieu. Associate Degree in an engineering discipline with equivalent industry experience will also be considered. Experience 5-10 years of experience programming, integrating, and launching industrial robotic systems. Minimum of 5 years of hands-on commissioning experience, including startup from a blank controller through customer acceptance. Automotive manufacturing experience strongly preferred. Proven experience leading robotics projects and supporting large-scale automation launches. Skills and Technical Expertise Robotics Platforms Experience with one or more of the following robotic systems: FANUC (preferred) ABB Yaskawa/Motoman Kawasaki Nachi Application Experience Hands-on experience with one or more of the following robotic applications: Material Handling Spot Welding Arc Welding Laser Welding Adhesive Dispensing Urethane Dispensing Sealer Applications Paint Applications Technical Competencies Robot commissioning and startup Tool Center Points (TCPs) and User Frames Safety systems and DCS configuration Robot I/O and industrial communications External axis integration Offline programming and simulation development FANUC RoboGuide
