Job Description

An established automation integrator in Metro Detroit is looking for an experienced Mechanical Designer to join its engineering team. This is a hands-on design position working on custom automated equipment and turnkey manufacturing systems, with a strong focus on robotic assembly and welding applications. You'll take ownership of projects from concept through detailed design and support the equipment through build and integration. What You'll Do Design custom automated machinery, robotic cells and assembly systems Develop concepts and detailed 3D mechanical designs using Inventor Design tooling, fixtures, weld fixtures and other automation components Work on robotic welding applications including spot, MIG and TIG welding systems Design around purchased equipment including conveyors, robots and other automation hardware Produce manufacturing drawings, layouts and supporting engineering documentation Work closely with controls, manufacturing and build teams throughout projects Support projects from initial concept through build, integration and final installation Troubleshoot mechanical/design issues during equipment build and commissioning What You'll Need Strong mechanical design experience within industrial automation or custom machinery Experience designing robotic cells, assembly equipment or similar automated systems Strong Inventor experience Experience with tooling, fixturing and/or weld fixture design Good understanding of manufacturing and machine-building principles Ability to independently take mechanical projects from concept through detailed design Automotive automation experience is highly desirable Experience with robotic welding systems would be a major advantage

$70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
