AB_5082024 Are you a hands-on technical troubleshooter with a blend of mechanical and electrical grit? We are seeking a Compression Process Technician to lead process control, equipment maintenance, and tooling setups across our compression molding, thermal oven, robotic, and waterjet cells. This is a dynamic role where you act as the primary process owner for your shift. You will manage recipes, rebuild high-pressure waterjet heads, perform minor
ABB/FANUC
robot touch-ups, and oversee die changes to keep production running safely and efficiently. You'll also act as a helper for the Automations team to help set up machinery, on foot or on a forklift.
Key Responsibilities Process & Equipment Ownership:
Set up, operate, and troubleshoot compression presses, industrial thermal ovens, thermolators, and secondary equipment.
Waterjet Maintenance:
Rebuild, service, and replace waterjet/intensifier consumables (cutting heads, nozzles, orifices, mixing tubes, coils, high-pressure lines, and seals).
Robotics & Automation:
Perform basic ABB and FANUC robot adjustments.
Die Changes & Tooling:
Execute complete mold/die changeovers, connect water/hydraulic hoses, set clamps, align tooling, and perform first/last-piece quality validations.
Diagnostics & Repair:
Act as the first responder to equipment alarms, executing minor mechanical and electrical troubleshooting before escalating.
Continuous Improvement & Mentorship:
Identify root causes for scrap/downtime, complete required MES/log entries, and coach machine operators on safe standard work.
Requirements & Qualifications Note:
This role operates in a fast-paced, non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment. You must have great physical stamina and direct hands-on technical aptitude.
Technical Skills:
Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability. Experience reading technical schematics, SOPs, and blueprints.
Material Handling:
Valid forklift certification (or ability to pass training) to operate large-capacity forklifts (e.g., Taylor 350-L class) and overhead cranes for mold handling.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to be mobile and on your feet for an entire shift, work in a hot/dirty environment near industrial ovens, and frequently lift 50 lbs (occasionally up to 100 lbs). Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with PLC ladder logic diagnostics. Advanced programming/setup experience with ABB or FANUC automation. Prior experience with heavy-capacity mold handling forklifts and rigging.
