Solar & Energy Storage Technical Specialist | Solar
PV / NEC
/ Energy Storage Remote - New York | $60-$65/hr W2 | 6-Month Contract | 37.5 Hours/Week Our client, a leading New York State clean energy organization, seeks an accomplished Solar & Energy Storage Technical Specialist to provide technical expertise for solar photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage projects across New York. This is a strong opportunity for an experienced solar or electrical construction professional with deep knowledge of PV systems, energy storage, NEC requirements, and New York State Uniform Codes .

Important:
Candidate must have a computer, cell phone, and reliable high-speed internet available while working remotely. Key Responsibilities Serve as a technical resource to contractors, solar installers, customers, inspectors, and internal Distributed Energy Resource (DER) teams. Answer technical and program-related questions involving solar PV and energy storage projects. Review solar project applications, wiring diagrams, shading information, site plans, and site photographs. Identify missing, inaccurate, or rejected application items and coordinate required corrections with contractors. Perform technical reviews of residential energy storage system designs for compliance with applicable Fire Code and National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements. Review failed Quality Assurance (QA) inspection reports and cited issues. Research applicable codes and determine appropriate corrective action requirements. Evaluate contractor corrective-action responses and supporting evidence. Approve satisfactory corrections or reject responses requiring additional corrective action/resubmission. Review customer complaints, document issues, and coordinate with appropriate parties to support resolution. Support modifications to QA inspection checklists. Assist with code official training and updates to solar program technical guidance. Support siting-related activities as needed. Stay current on major solar, energy storage, electrical code, and regulatory developments, including changes to the NEC . Perform other duties as assigned in support of solar and energy storage program objectives. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree 10+ years of experience in the solar or electrical construction industry Working knowledge of New York State Uniform Codes Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to effectively communicate technical information to solar installers, contractors, inspectors, and customers Ability to work effectively in a team environment Professional demeanor appropriate for working across public and private sector stakeholders Preferred Qualifications / Certifications Experience working with or as a solar installer is preferred. One or more of the following is preferred: New York State Professional Engineer ( PE ) License
NABCEP PV
Installation Professional certification UL PV System Installer certification IBEW Journeyman with 40-hour PV training Systems & Tools Salesforce | Microsoft Word | Excel | PowerPoint | Teams | Asana Qualified professionals with extensive solar PV, electrical construction, NEC, energy storage, or solar installation experience are encouraged to apply.
