Survey Technician

Job Description

Description The Survey Technician performs technical surveying tasks to support the planning, design, and construction of public works projects. This includes boundary surveys, topographic mapping, construction staking, and data collection using advanced survey instruments and software. Responsibilities Draft and proofread routine correspondence, memos, and notices. Assist in conducting field surveys for roads, bridges, drainage systems, and other county infrastructure. Operate and maintain survey instruments such as GPS units, total stations, and digital levels. Record and process field notes, measurements, and observations. Draft survey maps and drawings using CAD software. Research legal records, land titles, and previous surveys to determine property boundaries. Perform calculations for construction layout and control points. Input and manage GIS data related to county property lines and infrastructure. Support inspection and documentation of construction projects for compliance with safety and quality standards. Collaborate with engineers, planners, and the public to ensure accurate and timely data collection. All other duties as assigned. Skills Knowledge of surveying principles, techniques, and equipment. Familiarity with state land survey standards and legal descriptions. Proficiency in Auto
CAD, GIS
software, and data collection tools. Strong attention to detail and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. Valid driver's license. Surveying field experience. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may increase to a loud volume.
