Job Description

Join our team as an Urban Forestry Survey Technician! Great Parks of Hamilton County is accepting applications for a Part Time Urban Forestry Survey Technician to assist our Urban Forestry team. In this position you will have the opportunity few people have to see the many diverse and beautiful hidden gems throughout the 18000 acres that is Great Parks! The Urban Forestry Survey Technician supports the Urban Forestry team in a wide range of tasks, with duties shifting based on the season. From spring through fall, the primary focus is assisting with tree care operations in a ground support role. Responsibilities may include traffic control, brush dragging, chipping woody debris, hauling equipment, and assisting with rigging during tree removals or pruning. During the late fall and winter, the position primarily focuses on evaluation and location tracking of trees in parks. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, can adapt to changing tasks, and want hands-on experience in urban forestry.
Additional seasonal duties may involve:
Supporting Plant Health Care (PHC) applications, including Emerald Ash Borer treatments Conducting inspections of contracted tree work Assisting with data entry, spreadsheet management, and research Responding to public inquiries and following up on tree-related concerns Participating in tree planting projects Performing equipment maintenance Inspecting and monitoring Legacy Trees Occasionally lifting or exerting force of items of varying weights upwards of 50 pounds.
QUALIFICATIONS
An appropriate combination of education, training, course work and experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of an acceptable qualification is: enrolled in associate's/bachelor s degree program in forestry, botany, natural resources, or related field with coursework and/or experience in tree identification with leaf on and leaf off. Experience using professional grade GPS with ArcPad or Terra Sync software is a plus. Ability to document identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of original appointment as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements.
LICENSE & CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
State Motor Vehicle Operator s License that meets GPHC current carrier guidelines.
