Job Description

Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Solar Survey Technician, where you will play a vital role in supporting the planning and development of solar energy projects. Your expertise in land surveying, data collection, and technical analysis will help ensure accurate site assessments and efficient project execution. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors, utilize advanced surveying equipment, and contribute to sustainable energy solutions. Duties Conduct precise land surveys using total stations, GPS systems, LiDAR, and other surveying equipment to gather accurate topographic and site data. Perform construction layout surveys and staking to guide the installation of solar panels, racking systems, and electrical infrastructure. Utilize CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, MicroStation, and Carlson to draft schematics, site plans, and legal descriptions based on survey data. Operate GPS surveying tools including Trimble GNSS systems for geospatial positioning and data collection across diverse terrains. Perform utility locating to identify underground utilities and prevent conflicts during construction activities. Generate detailed survey reports, maps, and schematics using ArcGIS and other GIS tools for project documentation and permitting purposes. Assist with ALTA surveys (American Land Title Association) for property boundary verification and legal land descriptions. Support field operations by handling heavy lifting of equipment, setting up survey stations, and maintaining survey instruments for optimal performance. Analyze collected data to produce accurate topographic maps, land descriptions, and construction layouts that meet project specifications. Qualifications Proven experience with land surveying techniques including total station operation, GPS surveying, construction staking, topographic surveys, and ALTA surveys. Strong knowledge of trigonometry, geometry, algebra, and math principles essential for precise measurements and calculations. Familiarity with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, MicroStation, Carlson, and drafting skills for creating detailed plans. Experience with GIS platforms like ArcGIS for spatial analysis and mapping applications. Ability to operate surveying equipment including total stations, level instruments, hand tools, Schematics software, Trimble GNSS systems, LiDAR scanners, and data collectors. Knowledge of legal descriptions related to land parcels and the ability to interpret schematics for construction layout purposes. Strong field surveying skills with the ability to perform construction layout surveys accurately under varying environmental conditions. Excellent data collection skills combined with analytical abilities for data analysis and report generation. Physical capability for heavy lifting and outdoor work in diverse weather conditions; comfortable working on uneven terrain. Valid driver's license with experience operating heavy machinery or construction vehicles preferred but not required.
