The successful candidate will receive on-the-job training in the use of total stations, GPS/GNSS equipment, data collectors, levels, and surveying software. This position is ideal for someone interested in developing a long-term career in land surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or construction. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Basic knowledge of mathematics, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, and basic geometry. Ability to learn and safely operate surveying instruments, computers, tablets, and electronic data-collection equipment. Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to work accurately with measurements, numbers, and technical information. Ability to work effectively as part of a survey crew and follow direction from a Survey Crew Chief or Professional Land Surveyor. Ability to communicate professionally with coworkers, contractors, clients, and the public. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on uneven or difficult terrain. Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb as required for field surveying work. Ability to lift and carry surveying equipment and materials weighing approximately 50 pounds. Must be dependable, safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and willing to learn. Work Environment This position is primarily field-based and requires regular outdoor work. Employees may encounter hot and cold temperatures, dust, mud, uneven terrain, construction sites, traffic, and other typical field-survey conditions. Occasional travel to project sites throughout the Salt Lake Valley and surrounding areas may be required. Preferred Qualifications Basic understanding of land surveying principles and terminology. Familiarity with reading maps, plats, site plans, construction drawings, or blueprints. Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Carlson, MicroStation, or similar drafting/surveying software. Good organizational and time-management skills. Ability to maintain professional relationships with clients and the public. Dependable attendance and punctuality. Willingness to work occasional early mornings, extended hours, or varying schedules based on project requirements. Willingness to travel locally to various project sites. Ability to safely work near roads, utilities, construction equipment, and other job-site hazards.

Pay:

From $18.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
