About Us Affordable Drafting Services (ADS) is a Santa Rosa-based firm which designs and drafts construction plans for new residences, additions, remodels, swimming pools, commercial buildings and other structures. We start our process by scanning the existing site and structures using aerial drone imagery and LiDAR scanning tools, augmented by professional-grade GPS positioning systems. We then draft any existing structures before designing and drafting a proposed project. Finally, we shepherd each project through the permitting process on behalf of our clients. We serve property owners from Mendocino County to San Francisco, with most of our activity in Sonoma, Marin and Napa Counties. Job Summary The Existing Conditions Surveyor performs preliminary property research to obtain copies of deeds or survey maps, as well as compiling building development standards based on local zoning ordinances. Field work consists of conducting on-site scans of properties, including taking GPS measurements of the positions of existing conditions and utilities. Aerial scanning is performed using a quad copter drone with high-resolution imaging capabilities. LiDAR scans are performed to capture the layout and dimensions of existing structures. Once field work is complete, the Existing Conditions Surveyor performs post-processing of the collected scan/positioning data within the ADS office. Preliminary as-built drawing files are then prepared to incorporate the data collected in the field. The ideal candidate is accurate, meticulous, eager to learn and has a strong interest in architecture, engineering or surveying. Key Responsibilities Conduct field measurements of existing buildings, including interior and exterior conditions Utilize laser scanning, photogrammetry, and/or traditional measurement tools to capture accurate data Maintain organized field notes, photos, and digital records. Identify discrepancies and communicate potential issues to the design team. Assist with office tasks including records research, processing field data, CAD drafting, data transfers and ongoing communication with team members. Qualifications High school diploma 2+ years of related experience, i.e. field surveying, architectural documentation, or similar role High attention to detail and accuracy Strong problem-solving and observational skills Effective communication and collaboration abilities Strong computer and office skills Willing to learn to fly a drone and become a licensed drone operator Effective working independently and in a team environment Physical & Field Requirements Ability to travel to project sites Possess reliable transportation for job site visits and a valid driver's license in good standing Ability to lift and carry field equipment Preferred Skills Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Revit Familiarity with Pix4D software Familiarity with 3D scanning tools (e.g. LiDAR, laser scanning) Familiarity with GPS equipment Strong understanding of building systems and construction methods Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings Experience with point cloud data and reality capture workflows Knowledge of BIM modeling standards Drone flying skills and an FAA Remote Pilot Certificate (Part 107 license)

Mileage reimbursement for all travel to/from client sites

Training:

Training will be provided in specific ADS procedures, as well as equipment and application training as needed

Pay:

$25.00 - $28.00 per hour
