Job Description

Job Summary The Rodman provides essential physical and logistical support to the field survey crew. This position focuses on the manual execution of field measurements and equipment management under the direct supervision of the Surveyor in both the underground and surface environment.
Responsibilities Field Instrumentation Support :
Carry, set up, and break down total stations, prisms, tripods, and laser levels at the active underground faces.
Target & Point Placement :
Hold the target rod or prism pole perfectly steady at specified coordinates so the Surveyor can capture accurate distance and elevation data.
Spad Installation :
Drill and set mechanical survey plugs (spads) into the coal mine roof to preserve permanent survey stations.
Site Preparation :
Clear debris, dust, or temporary obstructions from the line of sight to allow clear instrument readings.
Inventory Control :
Clean, calibrate, and pack delicate surveying tools; maintain adequate supplies of paint, ribbon, and expansion plugs in the survey vehicle.
Qualifications Education :
High school diploma or GED equivalent; no prior surveying experience required (on-the-job training provided).
Core Competencies :
Ability to listen carefully, follow strict verbal instructions, and accurately document handwritten field notes.
Physical Stamina :
Capability to walk long distances over uneven mine floors, work in low-clearance areas, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
Pay:
$53,772.00 - $80,659.00 per year
