ELEMENT provides survey, subsurface utility engineering (SUE), and utility coordination to round-out all aspects of transportation engineering. ELEMENT's design services include roadway, drainage, traffic control, signing & pavement markings, signals, lighting, structures, utilities, and traffic studies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Work closely with the Survey Crew Chief to perform field work in support of land surveying operations. Understanding of all common surveying and mapping instruments. Proficient with total stations, digital leveling, and electronic data collection. Ability to direct and train crew members in running level rod to obtain elevations, contours, location, elevation, and dimension of land features. Ability to direct and train crew members in holding prism pole for horizontal positions to allow data collection by instrument person. Assists survey crew in setting up equipment and preparing job site for survey. Prepares truck daily with necessary equipment to perform survey work. Removing obstacles / clearing brush and trees away from survey line. Work as part of a crew under the direction of a crew chief. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements High School and/or specialized training from a vocational or technical school. FDOT experience a plus. Valid Florida driver's license with approved/acceptable driving history required. Basic math skills. Ability to travel (up to 50% of the time). Required to travel overnight when needed. Required to work 50+ hours during busy periods. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Ability to walk for long periods of time through all kinds of terrain, uneven ground and sometimes water. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work for any employer in the United States.
