Job Description

C-Miles Construction is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Field Surveyor to assist with project layout. This position is responsible for supporting field construction operations by laying out new projects, including curbs and underground utilities, and helping ensure jobsite accuracy. Essential Responsibilities
  • Assist the construction crews with daily land and construction surveying activities.
  • Check grades on pipe and boxes as they are laid.
  • Hold and position grade rods and GPS equipment for accurate data collection.
  • Set hubs, stakes, nails, and other survey markers as needed.
  • Mark reference points, control points, and construction layout locations.
  • Assist with construction staking for utilities, grading, roadways, building pads, and other heavy civil projects.
  • Operate and care for survey equipment, including GPS receivers, data collectors, and laser levels.
  • Clear brush, debris, and obstructions to establish survey lines and control points.
  • Load, unload, transport, and maintain survey equipment and supplies.
  • Record field notes and document survey data.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers and field personnel.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company policies and OSHA safety regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Required
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous construction or surveying experience preferred.
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
  • Basic math skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to learn surveying methods, equipment, and construction layout.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Preferred
  • Experience with GPS surveying equipment.
  • Experience setting up GPS guided heavy equipment.
  • Experience with construction staking and layout.
  • Experience reading construction plans and site drawings.
  • Experience in heavy civil or site development construction. Physical Requirements
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work on uneven terrain.
  • Lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently perform repetitive walking over long distances on active construction sites.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Safely operate survey equipment and hand tools.
Pay:
$25.00 per hour
