Land Surveyor - Crew Leader

Job Description

As a Land Surveyor / Crew Leader, you'll support infrastructure and development projects by leading survey field operations and providing accurate geospatial data that informs planning, design, and construction decisions. In this role, you'll work closely with engineers, project managers, and survey professionals to deliver high-quality survey services that support project success. You'll lead field activities, ensure data accuracy and quality, mentor team members, and help clients move projects forward safely, efficiently, and confidently. What you'll do Perform boundary, topographic, right-of-way, construction, and as-built surveys Lead and coordinate survey field activities using GPS/GNSS, RTK, total stations, digital levels, laser scanning, and conventional survey methods Process, analyze, and validate survey data to ensure accuracy and completeness Establish and maintain survey control networks and perform coordinate geometry calculations Conduct records research and review deeds, title commitments, easements, plats, and other property documents Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and technical teams to support project objectives Help maintain quality standards, project schedules, budgets, and client requirements Follow established safety procedures and contribute to a strong culture of health and safety Train, mentor, and provide guidance to survey crew members and instrument operators Perform other duties as assigned Experience in land surveying, geomatics, or related discipline Knowledge of land surveying principles, practices, and calculations Experience with survey data collection and processing workflows Proficiency with survey software and CAD platforms such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, or similar applications Ability to interpret survey records, legal descriptions, property documents, and engineering plans Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills Valid driver's license Ability to travel up to 80% based on project needs Ability to work outdoors in varying site and weather conditions as required Ideally, you'll also have Certified Survey Technician (CST), Land Surveyor Intern (LSI), or Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) credential Experience supporting transportation, water, environmental, utility, or other infrastructure projects Familiarity with state and local surveying standards and regulations Experience with laser scanning, mobile mapping, and UAV/drone technology Experience leading survey tasks and field crews Knowledge of Georgia Department of Transportation and Tennessee Department of Transportation standards and specifications Experience supporting multidisciplinary project teams LI-KD1 Jacobs is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
