$85,000-$120,000 This pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends on applicants credentials. Overview:
Utilitra is seeking a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to provide technical leadership and surveying expertise in support of utility, transportation, and infrastructure projects. This individual will work closely with engineers, survey personnel, GIS professionals, project managers, and clients to deliver high-quality surveying services while helping develop and mentor the next generation of surveying professionals. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical capabilities with a passion for team development, client service, and expand Utilitra's surveying practice throughout Illinois and Missouri.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
There are no direct report requirements for this position. This role offers opportunities for professional growth and expanded responsibility based on individual interest and performance.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Lead and support surveying services for utility, transportation, and infrastructure projects. Oversee boundary, topographic, construction, easement, and right-of-way surveys. Review, certify, and seal survey plats, legal descriptions, exhibits, and related deliverables. Support project planning, scheduling, staffing, and client communication. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to survey technicians, field crews, and emerging survey professionals. Collaborate with engineering, GIS, and project management teams to support project execution and client needs. Assist with quality control, development of standards, and continuous improvement initiatives. Foster strong relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and internal stakeholders. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and team members while representing Utilitra's values through professional conduct at client sites, company facilities, and industry events.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in Illinois. Ability and willingness to obtain additional state licensure as needed. Experience supporting utility, transportation, DOT, municipal, or infrastructure projects. Knowledge of boundary, right-of-way, easement, and construction surveying practices. Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and modern survey technologies preferred. Familiarity with GPS, robotic total stations, data collectors, and related survey equipment preferred. Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills. Ability to work effectively with both field and office personnel. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Physical Requirements:
Work is performed both in an office and on job sites, inside and outside; exposed to extreme heat and cold, as well as multiple weather conditions Exposure to various environmental elements such as weather conditions, insects, and wildlife.
Travel Requirements:
Occasional travel, including overnight stays, may be required based on project locations.
