Position Summary:

Cochran is seeking a licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to join our growing team. This position will lead and oversee land surveying services for a variety of public and private sector projects throughout Missouri. The successful candidate will bring technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality survey data that supports engineering, design, and construction efforts. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects including boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS land title, right-of-way, and construction surveys while collaborating with engineers, project managers, clients, and field personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and perform land surveying services for civil engineering and development projects. Lead and supervise survey field crews, ensuring efficient operations and accurate data collection. Prepare, review, and certify plats, legal descriptions, survey reports, and related documentation. Conduct and oversee boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS land title, right-of-way, and construction staking surveys. Interpret engineering plans, construction drawings, and project specifications to support surveying activities. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients to establish project requirements, schedules, and deliverables. Ensure compliance with applicable surveying standards, state regulations, and company quality expectations. Review, sign, and seal final survey documents as the Professional Land Surveyor of record. Assist with project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation. Support the growth and development of survey staff through mentoring and technical guidance.

Qualifications:

Active Missouri Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license, or ability to obtain Missouri licensure through reciprocity. Minimum of five years of progressive land surveying experience, including supervision of field crews and project management responsibilities. Proficiency with modern surveying equipment and software, including Trimble, Leica, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and related technologies. Strong knowledge of surveying principles, boundary law, legal descriptions, and industry standards. Experience preparing and reviewing plats, easements, legal descriptions, and survey deliverables. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working within a civil engineering consulting environment. UAS/Drone certification and experience with aerial mapping and photogrammetry. Familiarity with GIS applications, LiDAR, and 3D modeling technologies. Experience mentoring survey personnel and managing survey operations.
