Housing Intake Specialist

Job Description

This position assists in the efficient operation of the HCV Program in accordance with the procedures of the housing authority and federal regulations. Work involves performing a variety of functions including initial examinations, determining eligibility, income verification, and composing related reports and correspondence. This employee is accountable for proper management of their case load. This Employee reports to the HCV Supervisor who reviews their work through meetings and review of files for timeliness, adherence to established standards, and program results.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee applicant eligibility for the HCV Program in accordance with the procedures of the housing authority and federal regulations. Schedule and conduct initial interviews; process income/asset/medical/childcare verifications from initial interviews. Determine eligibility and schedule group briefings in conjunction with the Housing Specialist Process requests for tenancy and submit to housing inspector Process and prepare paperwork for new contracts. Negotiate and execute housing assistance payment contracts between the property owner and the housing authority Advise prospective tenants and rental property owners in requirements and regulations of the program Process daily mail and maintain organized calendar Accept phone calls and/or unscheduled visits from tenants and landlords Attend Informal Reviews, as necessary Prepare and execute new contracts/portabilities (in and/ or out), as assigned. Participate in semi-annual landlord workshop, as requested. Work in cooperation with other agency departments to provide Housing Choice Voucher Subsidy to clients and comply with all applicable agency and federal regulations. Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
: Must be able carry objects up to 25 pounds occasionally. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
: Must have a clean driving record and valid driver's license. Must have basic computer skills, including, but not limited to: keyboarding and knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook. All positions require working with the public including a diverse population representing people from various socioeconomical and cultural backgrounds.

$18.00 - $20.00 per hour Expected hours: 37.5 per week
