$28.00 - $40.00 per hour Job Summary The Survey Party Chief plays a critical leadership role in commercial and residential land development projects by directing field survey crews, operating advanced surveying equipment, and ensuring the accuracy and quality of all field data collection. Working independently and in coordination with project managers and office staff, the Party Chief is responsible for the successful execution of boundary, topographic, construction staking, as-built, and other surveying assignments while representing the company professionally in the field. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise survey field crews on a variety of surveying projects. Operate and oversee the use of Trimble surveying instruments, including GPS receivers, Total Stations, digital levels, and 3-wire levels. Perform boundary, topographic, ALTA, construction staking, and as-built surveys. Interpret engineering, construction, and subdivision plans to accurately complete field assignments. Ensure accurate collection, documentation, and quality control of survey data. Maintain detailed field notes and electronic records. Verify survey calculations and measurements in the field. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients as needed. Train and mentor Instrument Operators and Rodmen. Maintain survey equipment and vehicles in good working condition. Troubleshoot equipment and field-related issues. Ensure all work is performed according to company standards and safety protocols. Mark reference points, boundaries, alignments, and construction staking using stakes, hubs, nails, flags, and paint in a neat and professional manner. Manage daily crew activities, productivity, and field logistics. Set Aerial Targets for UAV's Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; surveying coursework or technical training preferred. Minimum 3 years of field surveying experience preferred. Previous experience as a Survey Instrument Operator preferred. Strong understanding of boundary, topographic, and construction surveying principles. Ability to read and interpret plats, deeds, engineering plans, and construction drawings. Experience with Trimble survey equipment and data collectors preferred. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and participate in random testing. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record preferred. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Physical ability to walk long distances, work on uneven terrain, and lift over 50 pounds. Remote Pilot License huge plus Skills Proficiency in operating GPS, Total Stations, levels, and data collectors. Strong understanding of field survey procedures and construction staking practices. Leadership and crew management skills. Excellent communication and client interaction abilities. Basic computer skills for data collection and equipment interface. Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Work Environment Primarily outdoor fieldwork on commercial and residential land development sites. May involve travel and extended hours depending on project needs. The Party Chief is expected to safely lead field operations while maintaining productivity, quality, and professionalism on all project sites.
