Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Survey Party Chief to lead field surveying teams in executing a wide range of land surveying projects. As a key leader on our team, you will oversee survey crews, ensure accurate data collection, and manage the operation of various surveying equipment. Your expertise will help deliver precise topographic surveys, construction layout surveys, ALTA surveys, and legal descriptions that meet project specifications and client expectations. Duties Lead and coordinate survey crews during field operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and accuracy in all activities Operate and troubleshoot advanced surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS/GNSS systems (including Trimble), 3D scanners, LiDAR devices, and robotic total stations Perform construction staking and layout surveys to support civil engineering and construction projects Conduct land surveys including topographic, boundary, ALTA (American Land Title Association), and schematic surveys with precision using CAD software like AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Revit, Carlson, and ArcGIS Collect survey data using field tools such as hand tools, levels, GPS units, total stations, and data collectors; analyze data for accuracy and completeness Interpret technical schematics and legal descriptions to ensure survey results align with project requirements Manage survey documentation including field notes, sketches, reports, and digital data; maintain meticulous records for future reference Collaborate with engineers, architects, and project managers to provide accurate survey information for design and construction purposes Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry regulations throughout all field activities Experience Proven experience as a Survey Party Chief or similar role within land surveying or civil engineering projects Strong knowledge of surveying principles including trigonometry, geometry, algebra, and math fundamentals essential for precise measurements Hands-on experience operating a variety of surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS/GNSS systems (Trimble GNSS), 3D scanners (LiDAR), AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Carlson Software, Revit, ArcGIS and related CAD programs Familiarity with construction layout surveys and staking processes for infrastructure projects Ability to interpret schematics and legal land descriptions accurately Skilled in data collection techniques for topographic surveys and GIS applications Physical capability to perform heavy lifting as required during field operations; comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions Strong analytical skills for data analysis and problem-solving in the field Excellent communication skills to lead teams effectively and coordinate with project stakeholders Join us to lead innovative surveying projects that shape the future of infrastructure development!
