Executive Director, Mission and Sustainability Working at Aveda means helping to steward our mission to care for the world we live in—from the products we create to the ways we give back to society. The Global Manager, Mission & Sustainability plays a central role in advancing Aveda's leadership in sustainability, social impact, and responsible beauty. This role combines sustainability expertise and program management with brand storytelling. You will lead Aveda's certifications and standards programs, support the development of sustainability claims and sourcing stories and translate nuanced impact work for internal and external stakeholders. You will manage nonprofit partnerships, global philanthropic programs, and community activations, including Aveda's decades long Earth Month programs, while tracking impact and serving as a trusted sustainability resource across the organization.
Responsibilities:
+ Research and identify leading edge opportunities for sustainability and social impact at Aveda. Prioritize initiatives across functions to drive measurable progress. Develop tools, training, and resources to build sustainability knowledge across marketing, sourcing, and broader teams. + Maintain Aveda's certifications and standards program, serving as point of contact and program manager. Monitor evolving global sustainability regulations, certification changes, and industry standards to assess risk and guide teams on compliant, future-ready approaches. Track, automate and maintain information and reporting necessary to meet evolving standards and recertification activity. + Drive partnerships and community relationships. Serve as point of contact for Aveda nonprofit partners around the world. Manage storytelling opportunities and coordinate across the business. Deepen relationship with Aveda's artist and salon community, activating this diverse network in support of making a positive impact on the world, including managing Aveda's long running 30+ year Earth Month activation globally. + Collaborate closely with Aveda marketing teams to develop robust and compelling mission-driven stories around Aveda's vegan, plant powered, high-performance products for hair, skin and body. Support the development of sourcing stories across our supplier and ingredient list. Work with cross functional teams at Aveda and Estee Lauder to develop and substantiate sustainability and sourcing claims.
