Job Description

Let's introduce ourselves The role of Environmental Specialist will play a key role in coordinating environment-friendly projects and work within Volvo Cars to minimize cost and any environmental impact from the operations at the Ridgeville Facility. This position will support and lead the environmental areas of responsibility in relation to air and water emissions, waste management, noise pollution, as well as the implementation and oversight of ISO 14001, Volvo's environmental management system.



What you'll do Create, implement, and maintain environmental protection activities and procedures to ensure compliance with all Volvo and State, Local and Federal Environmental Regulatory requirements.

Regulatory reporting activities to various local, state and federal agencies.

Oversight of the facilities waste contractor ensuring safety, regulatory compliance and cost efficiency.

Support plant environmental champions and provide guidance and interpretation of all environmental regulatory requirements as they relate to the production activities.

Perform audits to ensure compliance throughout the facility.

Continuous education to ensure you are up-to-date on regulatory requirements.

Perform environmental training for various employees throughout the facility.

What you'll bring Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering or related field. Experience may be substituted for education. Minimum 3 years' experience in an environmental role in automotive or other manufacturing or industrial environment. Team player, strong social abilities

Preferred certified Lead Auditor - ISO 14001

Knowledge of auto industry or similar manufacturing industry

Project and time management skills

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, as well as advanced analytical and critical thinking skills; ability to persuade and make effective formal presentations

Ability to articulate complex issues

Continuously works to protect and enhance Volvo's reputation

Carries out all duties and responsibilities with the utmost integrity and consistent with the highest ethical standards

Remains flexible and responsive to changing conditions

Uses both logic and intuition to reach appropriate conclusions

Ability to speak credibly to authorities, environmental organizations and/or other public groups with varying levels of understanding

High school diploma or GED required

• $105,000 to $115,000

Compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, internal equity, location and company guidelines
