PowerShell Full Job Description Position:
QC Tester (Mid-Level)
Pay Rate:
$20.50 - $21.50 / hour
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of related experience Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control (QC) Technician to join our computer assembly and manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting custom-built desktop computer systems, verifying hardware builds against Work Orders/Bill of Materials (BOM), performing system updates, and conducting functionality testing. The ideal candidate has a strong foundational understanding of PC hardware components, software configuration, and excellent English communication skills to document findings and collaborate across departments. Key Responsibilities & Duties
  • Perform detailed visual and physical inspections of assembled desktop computers to ensure proper cable management, component seating, and structural integrity.
  • Cross-reference physical builds against Work Orders and Bills of Materials (BOM) to verify exact component specifications.
  • Identify physical defects, missing hardware, or assembly errors prior to testing.
Software, BIOS & Driver Configuration:
  • Update system
BIOS / UEFI
to specified stable firmware versions.
  • Install, configure, and activate Windows Operating Systems.
  • Download, update, and verify appropriate hardware device drivers (GPU, Chipset, Audio, LAN/Wi-Fi).
  • Configure basic OS settings, regional options, and power settings per customer or QA specifications.
System Testing & Diagnostics:
  • Execute standard burn-in stress tests and hardware diagnostics (CPU, GPU, RAM, Storage) to verify stability and temperature control.
  • Detect, troubleshoot, and isolate hardware or software failures during the QA phase.
  • Log QA test results, component serial numbers, and failure logs in the tracking system.
Quality Compliance & Communication:
  • Route defective units back to assembly with clear, written instructions on required rework.
  • Communicate daily quality trends, recurring defects, or hardware issues with assembly technicians and production management.
  • Follow company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety/ESD guidelines. Qualifications & Key Requirements
Technical Knowledge:
    PC Hardware:
    Strong knowledge of desktop computer components (Motherboards, CPUs, RAM, GPUs, Power Supplies, Storage drives, Cooling systems).
      Windows & Drivers:
      Experience with basic Windows OS navigation, command-line/PowerShell basics, device manager troubleshooting, and driver updates.
        BIOS Firmware:
        Understanding of BIOS settings, flashing updates, boot orders, and
        XMP/EXPO
        profiles.
          Hand Tools:
          Comfort working with basic hand tools used in computer assembly.
            Communication & Skills:
              English Proficiency:
              Clear written and verbal English communication skills are required (must be able to write detailed defect reports and speak clearly with team members).

              Meticulous eye for physical placement, aesthetic standards, and procedural compliance.
                Problem-Solving:
                Strong troubleshooting mindset to isolate whether an issue is caused by faulty hardware, improper seating, or driver conflicts.

                • Familiarity with ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protection protocols.
                • Experience running automated burn-in/testing scripts or deployment tools (e.g., PXE boot, MDT, or mass deployment utilities).
