(CivilSurv) is a well-established civil and environmental engineering firm providing roadway, transportation, utility, stormwater, and municipal engineering services throughout Florida. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Roadway Engineer to join our team and play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of roadway improvement projects for municipal clients. The preferred location for this role is our corporate headquarters in Lakeland. However, remote applicants located in the Tampa, St. Petersburg, Orlando, Port St. Lucie, or Vero Beach areas will also be considered.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and production of roadway improvement projects for municipal and transportation clients.
  • Prepare and oversee roadway geometry, plan and profile sheets, signing and pavement marking plans, drainage coordination, maintenance of traffic concepts, and construction details.
  • Develop construction plans, technical specifications, engineering calculations, cost estimates, and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate with utility, drainage, water/wastewater, survey, SUE, and permitting teams to deliver complete project designs.
  • Perform QA/QC reviews of roadway design documents.
  • Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and utility owners throughout design and construction.
  • Assist Project Managers with project scope, schedule, budgets, and client communication.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineering staff.
  • Participate in field reviews, design meetings, and construction support activities as needed.
Preferred Skills:
  • Strong understanding of roadway design principles and construction practices.
  • Experience designing municipal roadway improvement projects.
  • Familiarity with FDOT design criteria, manuals, and standards.
  • Experience preparing roadway construction plans using Civil3D and/or OpenRoads Designer.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments while maintaining high-quality technical work.
  • Self-motivated with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Approximately 6 to 10 years of roadway engineering design experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Florida or ability to obtain within 3 months through reciprocity.
