$75,000-85,000 General Job Summary This exciting role will join the Town's engineering team which oversees Town infrastructure, capital projects, Town planning, special projects and supports the technical needs of other departments. This staff level position will be supervised and mentored by the Town Engineer and the Chief Deputy Engineer. The position will provide professional, civil engineering services and expertise to the Town of Chesterton. The position will support or lead infrastructure design and life-cycle asset management. The position will design in-house projects, review construction and development drawings, assist the storm water MS4 Operator in operating the Town's MS4 program, and conduct construction observations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Reviews and approves detailed construction drawings, related maps and specification sheets used in the planning and construction of public and private infrastructure projects Support capital planning and management of stormwater and roadway assets Design and oversee projects involving roads, sidewalks, sewers, water mains, and drainage improvements Oversee consultants and contractors on infrastructure projects Attend and present at Council, Boards, Commissions, Committees, and public meetings Conduct field observations and enforce compliance with Town standards and project specifications through warnings, fines, or stop work orders when necessary Respond to public concerns related to drainage, engineering, traffic, construction, and code compliance Collect, input, analyze and manage geospatial Town data Support, manage and implement the Town's MS4 program Coordinate with regulatory agencies including IDEM, DNR, and ACOE, etc. Assist with consultant selection, contract management, and project coordination of Town projects Identify and pursue grant funding opportunities Support, develop and maintain the Town's ADA Transition Plan Support technical needs of Town staff including, but not limited to: Council initiatives, Building Department, Street Department, Parks Department, Economic Development, Utility Department, and Clerk-Treasurer's Office Perform other related duties as assigned by the Town Engineer or Chief Deputy Engineer Skills and Abilities The candidate will have observable behavior or ability to perform a learned activity necessary to successfully fulfill job duties of this position: General engineering skills, such as problem solving, plan reading, specification writing, municipal infrastructure design, interpret codes, research records, utilize a measuring tape, site level and transit Exhibit professional conduct with Town staff, residents and external parties by delivering excellent customer service that is timely, accurate, courteous, empathetic and respectful Written and verbal communication Time management Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite software Commitment to maintaining a safe, accident-free workplace Receptive to receiving and providing constructive performance feedback Benefits This position is eligible to participate in the Town's benefit package for full-time employees, including: Health, Life, Dental and Vision Insurance Paid Time Off Participation in the Indiana Public Employee Retirement Fund Vacation Time Training Opportunities Physical Requirements Physical attributes the candidate must have in order to perform the job duties with or without reasonable accommodation: Move, traverse at least 50% of workday Sitting at desk and using computer, at least 50% of workday Climb up and down construction ladders on an infrequent basis Lift, pull, carry up to 50 lbs. on average 10% of workweek Full body twisting motion on average 10% of workday Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl on an infrequent basis

EAC/ABET
