Position Description is seeking an Engineering Summer Intern to join our Traverse City office and gain hands-on experience supporting a variety of infrastructure projects. Depending on project needs and the student's academic background and interests, internship opportunities may be available across multiple engineering disciplines and market segments. As an intern, you will work alongside engineers, project managers, and technical professionals while gaining exposure to real-world engineering projects. Assignments may include assisting with engineering design, calculations, data collection and analysis, preparation and review of project documents, field activities, and other technical project support. Potential project opportunities within our Traverse City office may include work supporting Water, Transportation, Community Design, Industrial/Commercial/Energy, Construction, based on current business and project needs. Candidates should be pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering discipline applicable to the internship opportunity. Candidates should be self-motivated, organized, collaborative, and possess strong communication skills. Typical Responsibilities Responsibilities may vary based on project assignment and could include: Assist engineers and project managers with the planning and design of infrastructure projects Perform routine engineering calculations and technical analyses under the direction of experienced staff Assist with preparing and reviewing project plans, drawings, specifications, and other technical documents Collect, organize, and analyze project or field data Assist with preparation of spreadsheets, reports, and other project documentation Obtain and organize project information, records, drawings, and supporting materials Assist with preliminary quantity calculations and project cost estimates Participate in field investigations, site visits, or inspections as needed Support project teams with design, planning, and construction-related activities Work collaboratively with engineers, project managers, designers, and other technical professionals Communicate effectively with project team members and clients Maintain a safe working environment Education Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering discipline applicable to the internship opportunity Skills/Experience Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work collaboratively and take direction from engineers and project managers Familiarity with Microsoft Office Familiarity with engineering/design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Revit, GIS, or similar programs preferred, where applicable Valid driver's license may be required depending on project assignment
