Job Description

Role:
SRE - Observability (Contract-to-Hire)
Location:
On-site, Suwanee, GA (first 3-4 months on-site; hybrid possible thereafter based on performance)
Type:
Contract-to-hire — full-time conversion expected (base + bonus + RSU eligibility upon conversion) About the Role Our client is one of the largest data center operators in the world and is in the middle of a major build-out. Their Platform Core Engineering team owns the pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and automation that support the facility and operational technology (OT) side of the business — the systems that keep data centers running. We are looking for a hands-on Site Reliability Engineer to accelerate the rollout of the team's observability platform.
The immediate mission is clear:
get Grafana Alloy agents deployed across every facility endpoint, working alongside the full-time observability product owner, and turn a stack that is currently in staging into a production-grade platform. This is a builder role, not an administrator role. You will be expected to take ownership, work independently, and ship. What You'll Do Deploy and manage Grafana Alloy agents across all facility endpoints to feed the observability stack Build and maintain the configuration pipelines that deliver agent and telemetry configuration to endpoints Partner with application and system owners to define what metrics, logs, and traces each agent should capture Operate and extend the Grafana observability stack: Loki (logs), Mimir (metrics), Tempo (traces), and Grafana (dashboards and alerting) Contribute to the team's broader platform work: CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and automation for field deployments Support Kubernetes clusters running on bare metal and managed through SUSE Rancher, in an environment transitioning from VMware to Harvester Help bring telemetry from OT and facility systems (PLCs, power and environmental systems) into the platform over local networks What We're Looking For Required 5+ years in SRE, DevOps, platform, or infrastructure engineering roles Hands-on experience deploying and managing telemetry/collection agents at scale (Grafana Alloy, Grafana Agent, OpenTelemetry Collector, Prometheus exporters, or similar) Experience running Kubernetes on-premises (bare metal or VMware), not just managed cloud offerings Solid infrastructure-as-code and automation skills (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Helm, GitOps tooling) with a scripting language such as Python, Go, or Bash Demonstrated ability to take a project from stalled to shipped with minimal direction Able to work on-site in Suwanee, GA for the first 3-4 months Strongly Preferred Direct experience with the Grafana stack: Loki, Mimir, Tempo, and Grafana SUSE Rancher and/or Harvester experience Experience collecting telemetry from industrial or OT systems (SNMP, Modbus, PLCs, BMS/DCIM platforms) Background in data center, utility, manufacturing, or other facility-heavy environments Nice to Have Exposure to Azure and/or AWS in a hybrid environment Experience defining SLOs, alerting standards, and on-call practices for a platform team
