Summary The Quality Engineer supports day-to-day quality assurance and continuous improvement activities at the assigned MBI brand/plant location, ensuring products meet Malibu Boats' quality, performance, and safety standards. This role partners with Production, Engineering, and Supplier Quality to identify, contain, and eliminate defects; supports new product introduction; and drives structured problem solving to reduce scrap, rework, and warranty cost. Key Responsibilities Quality Engineering & Problem Solving Analyze quality data (scrap, rework, DPU, warranty) to identify top defect drivers and lead root cause problem solving (8D, 5-Why, A3, Fishbone). Develop and maintain Criteria for Acceptance documents, control plans, and inspection standards for assigned product lines/stations. Lead containment and corrective action activities for in-process and field quality issues, verifying effectiveness. In-Process & Incoming Quality Support and audit in-process inspection and layered process audits across assigned production areas. Partner with Supplier Quality on incoming material issues affecting the production line. Support material review board (MRB) and disposition of nonconforming material. New Product Introduction Support new product/model launches by developing test and inspection methods, and participating in design and process reviews. Support
APQP/PFMEA
activities for new products and engineering changes as needed. Continuous Improvement & Reporting Support the plant's COPQ reduction and continuous improvement priorities in partnership with the CI Site/Brand Lead. Maintain and report quality KPIs (FPY, DPU, scrap, rework hours) to plant and brand leadership. Participate in daily Gemba/tiered accountability meetings. #MalibuBoats Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience 2-5 years of experience in a quality or manufacturing engineering role working knowledge of root cause analysis tools, inspection methods, and quality documentation (control plans, CFAs, FMEAs) Preferred Experience in marine, automotive, RV, or other high-mix/custom manufacturing Six Sigma Green Belt or working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma tools familiarity with
