Job Description

Description Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity. We're seeking an experienced Sr. Reliability Engineer to join our team in a strategic technical role. As a Sr. Reliability Engineer, you'll be responsible for driving equipment reliability and availability across our production lines through proactive reliability programs, root cause failure analysis (RCFA), and engineering support for capital projects and equipment modifications. You will lead the charge to investigate downtime events, develop reliability-centered maintenance strategies, and ensure existing equipment is supported to maintain operational excellence while partnering with maintenance, manufacturing engineering, and vendor teams to reduce unplanned downtime and extend asset life. Key job responsibilities Lead and facilitate RCFA investigations for significant downtime events; document findings, assign corrective actions, and verify effectiveness Develop and maintain reliability programs including failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), criticality assessments, and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) strategies Provide engineering support for capital projects, equipment installations, and modifications to existing production systems Analyze equipment performance data (MTBF, MTTR, OEE) to identify chronic losses and prioritize improvement opportunities Partner with manufacturing engineering on design reviews and commissioning activities to ensure maintainability and reliability of new or modified equipment Collaborate with vendors to recommend changes and document best practice operating procedures Develop and refine preventive and predictive maintenance strategies Own CMMS data integrity and asset hierarchy; drive work order quality, failure coding accuracy, and reporting standards to enable data-driven decisions Support CMMS implementation, configuration, and rollout activities Support implementation of predictive maintenance program Create and maintain technical documentation Mentor maintenance and reliability engineers on RCFA methodology, data analysis, and reliability best practices Manage critical spare parts strategy and budgets for reliability-critical equipment as assets are defined, installed, and operated

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. A day in the life As a Sr. Reliability Engineer, you'll start your day reviewing overnight equipment performance data and open RCFA actions. You'll lead cross-functional investigations into downtime events, then shift to supporting active capital projects—reviewing designs for maintainability or commissioning new equipment. Afternoons may find you refining CMMS configurations, analyzing failure trends to adjust PM strategies, or mentoring engineers on reliability methodologies. No two days are identical, but every day centers on one mission: keeping production equipment running so satellites get built.
