$90-120k plus bonus About the Opportunity Our client is a leading manufacturer of high-performance paints and coating solutions designed for the demanding requirements of the global automotive industry. They are looking for a Customer Quality Engineer to take ownership of customer quality requirements and lead the resolution of quality issues throughout the product lifecycle. This is a highly visible, customer-facing quality role, acting as the primary liaison between automotive customers and internal manufacturing, engineering and commercial teams. You will lead root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, customer complaints and quality improvement initiatives, helping ensure consistently high standards of product and process performance. Based on-site at the Oak Creek, Wisconsin facility, you will report to the Quality Assurance Site Manager. Role & Responsibilities As a Customer Quality Engineer, you will act as the voice of the customer within the manufacturing operation, ensuring quality expectations are understood, communicated and consistently achieved.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading resolution of customer quality issues, including containment, root cause analysis, corrective action and closure
Managing customer complaints and claims using recognised quality methodologies
Acting as the escalation point for high-severity or critical quality issues
Ensuring root causes are evidence-based and corrective actions are robust and sustainable
Providing clear communication to customers on issue status, risks and resolution plans
Supporting and leading customer audits with the Quality Assurance Manager
Building strong relationships with customer plant, quality and engineering teams
Identifying potential quality risks and coordinating preventive actions
Ensuring customer-specific requirements are understood and incorporated into internal processes
Supporting compliance with IATF standards, APQP, FMEA, LPA and internal quality requirements
Working closely with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Supply Chain, Sales, Planning, Technical Laboratories, Customer Service and Continuous Improvement
Supporting improvements in customer satisfaction and quality performance
Qualifications:
Key Requirements You will be an experienced Customer Quality, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality or Quality Engineer with a strong background within the automotive industry and coatings environment.
You will bring:
Automotive and coatings experience, including working knowledge of
IATF 16949
Experience managing customer quality issues, complaints and claims
Strong knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies, including 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone and Is/Is Not
Experience implementing and verifying corrective and preventive actions
Knowledge of APQP, FMEA, LPA and customer-specific requirements
Experience supporting customer and third-party audits
Strong judgement and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess data and risk
Confidence leading cross-functional teams without direct authority
Strong customer-facing, communication and stakeholder management skills
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience
