Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic team as a Cannabis Bookkeeping and Payroll Specialist, where you'll play a vital role in managing financial operations within the cannabis industry. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your expertise in accounting systems, payroll processing, and financial reporting to a rapidly growing sector. You will ensure accurate financial record-keeping, compliance with industry standards, and seamless payroll administration, all while supporting the company's mission to operate transparently and efficiently. Responsibilities Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks using QuickBooks Online Manage data reconciliations, forecasts etc in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets Process payroll efficiently, including calculating wages, deductions, taxes, and benefits in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Maintain the general ledger by recording journal entries, reconciling accounts, and performing balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial statements. Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure timely payments and collections. Conduct account analysis and bank reconciliations regularly to verify account balances align with bank statements. Prepare detailed financial reports, including profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports for management review. Ensure adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) standards and maintain comprehensive documentation for audit readiness. Assist with budgeting activities by analyzing trends to support strategic planning efforts. Qualifications Proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles within the cannabis industry or related fields such as public accounting or non-profit accounting. Strong proficiency with accounting software including QuickBooks (especially QuickBooks Online), Xero, Sage, and other financial systems. Extensive knowledge of accounting concepts such as double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, journal entries, account reconciliation, and general ledger management. Experience processing payroll using payroll software or systems that handle tax calculations and compliance requirements. Familiarity with financial concepts like GAAP standards, balance sheet reconciliation, accounts payable/receivable management, and bank reconciliation procedures. Ability to work with spreadsheets for data analysis and financial report writing effectively. Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail; capable of managing multiple accounts accurately under tight deadlines. Strong understanding of industry-specific regulations related to cannabis business finance practices is a plus. Pay:
$23.00 - $26.00 per hour
